About Cala St Vincenc

A small but perfectly formed corner of the island

The 4 calas, Barques, Clara, Carbó and Molins, offer visitors sandy beaches, great snorkelling and turquoise waters. There are 2 larges beaches, the first one Barques is accessed by a long flight of steps, this might not be ideal for everybody. Going down the steps you will find some traditional houses that were the original fishermen´s cottages. Next to this is the small bay of Cala Clara. The road continues and winds down to the third bay, Cala Molins, on your right is the newly refrormed Molins hotel and a large car park. Further round, still is the bay of Cala Carbó. You can walk from here to Puerto Pollensa, a lovely walk which is not too strenuous and has 3 geo-caches along it. If you are not familiar with this worldwide treasure hunt, look up the website, www.geocaching.com The sea is beautifully clear here and snorkelling is a must. You may see octopus, rabbitfish, wrasse and scorpion fish. If you choose to do your PADI qualifications whilst here on holiday, you will more than likely do one of your dives here, as it is ideal for beginners. The currents can be really strong at times, so make sure you look for the safety flags before you dip your toes in. If the red flag is flying DO NOT SWIM. During the height of the season, the beaches can be quite crowded as this is a popular resort for the locals too. Celebrations of the ´Mare de Deu de la mar´ are held around the 1st Sunday in July. These parties often last all weekend, and you can find folk dances, popular games "cercavilla" parade of the big heads and events for children. As with most town celebrations, the culmination is a large firework display. If you enjoy a good hike, the Coves Blanques (White caves) are well worth a visit. The road was built by prisoners of war, and it leads to large gun placements. We also deliver and collect from Palma Airport.
